Is this a legally binding digital signature?

No. FileCrisp adds a visible handwriting-style text overlay — not a cryptographic digital signature. For legally binding e-signatures with audit trails and certificates, use a dedicated platform such as DocuSign or Adobe Sign.

What does the signature look like?

The signature is a stylized italic text mark with an underline, placed in the lower portion of the document or image. It is designed to look like a handwritten signature in a document context.

Can I customize the signature text?

Not yet. Custom signature text and placement are on the roadmap. Currently, the signature marker uses a standard design applied automatically.

What format is the output?

PDF input produces a PDF output. Image input (PNG, JPEG, WebP) always produces a PNG output. The PDF case preserves the original document content; the image case draws the signature onto the pixel canvas.

What does the date stamp show?

When enabled, the date stamp shows the current date in the format 'Signed: DD Month YYYY' (for example, 'Signed: 31 May 2026') alongside the signature mark.

Are my files uploaded to process them?

Never. FileCrisp uses pdf-lib (for PDFs) and Canvas (for images) running in a Web Worker in your browser. Your documents never leave your device.
