Merge PDF — free, in your browser
Combine PDFs into one and drag them into the order you want. No upload, no sign-up, no page limit.
To merge PDFs, drop two or more files here and drag them into the order you want. Pages are copied across exactly as they are, so nothing is re-compressed and no quality is lost. The combined file is roughly the sum of the inputs. Nothing is uploaded.

How it works
- 1
Add your PDFs
Drop in two or more files. Each one is read on your device and its page count appears next to it.
- 2
Put them in order
Drag the rows to rearrange, or use the up and down arrows on each row. The number on the left is the position that file will take in the finished document.
- 3
Merge and download
The combined PDF appears here ready to download. Page order, text and bookmarks are carried across as they were.
What each setting does
- Order
- The whole configuration of this tool. Drag the rows, or use the up and down arrows on each. The number on the left is the position that file takes in the finished document. Nothing is sorted automatically — alphabetical order is rarely what anyone means.
- Page counts
- Shown against each file, with a running total, so you can check the result before producing it rather than after.
- Adding more
- Files can be added at any point without losing the order you have already set. New ones go on the end.
Results you can expect
Measured on real files by our own test suite, not estimated.

What people use this for
Combining scanned pages
A stack of separately scanned pages is far easier to send, file and print as one document.
Read the guideOn Windows
Windows 11 has no built-in way to merge PDFs, and Acrobat Reader treats it as a paid feature.
Read the guideWith a Word document
You cannot merge a Word file directly — convert it to PDF first, which Word itself does best.
Read the guidePhotos into one document
If your pages are photographs rather than PDFs, Image to PDF builds the document in one step.

Questions
Are my PDFs uploaded anywhere?
No. The merge happens entirely in your browser. Your documents are read from your own disk into memory and never transmitted, which matters more here than for most tools — the PDFs people merge tend to be contracts, invoices and scans.
Is there a limit on file size or number of files?
There's no limit set by us, because we pay nothing to process your files. The practical ceiling is your device's memory, which is lower on a phone than a laptop. If a file is too large for your device, you'll be told before anything starts rather than the tab crashing.
Does merging reduce quality or make the file bigger?
Neither. Merging copies each page across as it is, so nothing is re-compressed and no quality is lost. The combined file is roughly the sum of the inputs. If the result is too big to email, run it through the Compress PDF tool afterwards.
Can I reorder without a mouse?
Yes. Every row has Move up and Move down buttons, and the drag handle works with the keyboard too — focus it, press space, use the arrow keys, then press space again to drop. Order matters in this tool, so it can't be drag-only.
Will my links, bookmarks and form fields survive?
Page content, text and internal links are preserved. Document-level features like the bookmark outline and form field values may not carry across, because they live outside the pages themselves. Check the result if your document relies on them.
Can I merge a password-protected PDF?
Not directly. An encrypted PDF can't be opened without its password, so you'll get a clear message rather than a broken file. Remove the password in your PDF reader first, then merge.
Does merging reduce quality?
No. Pages are copied across as they are, with no re-compression. The combined file is roughly the sum of its parts.
Is there a limit on how many PDFs?
None imposed by us. The practical ceiling is your device's memory, which is lower on a phone than a laptop.
Can I merge without a mouse?
Yes. Every row has Move up and Move down buttons, and the drag handle works with the keyboard. Order is the point of this tool, so it cannot be drag-only.
Can I merge only some pages from a file?
Not in this tool yet. Extract the pages you want with PDF to Image, or split the document in your PDF reader first.
The merged file is too large to email
That is expected, since merging adds rather than compresses. Run the result through Compress PDF afterwards.
Are my documents uploaded?
No. The merge happens entirely in your browser, which matters here because the PDFs people combine tend to be contracts, invoices and scans.
Can I merge PDFs without Adobe Acrobat?
Yes. The merge runs in your browser, so there is nothing to install and no subscription. It works in Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge on any operating system, including phones.
What order do the PDFs merge in?
Top to bottom in the file list, which you can drag to reorder before running it. Watch out for names numbered without leading zeros — those sort as 1, 10, 11, 2, which is rarely what you want.
If something looks wrong
- The pages came out in the wrong order
- The order shown is the order used, and nothing is sorted for you. Check the numbers on the left before merging — most tools inherit the file manager's alphabetical order, which puts page10 between page1 and page2.
- It refuses to merge one file
- A single file has nothing to be merged with, so we say so rather than quietly handing your file back and looking like it worked.
- An encrypted PDF will not merge
- A password-protected document cannot be opened, so it cannot be copied either. Remove the protection in your PDF reader first.
- Bookmarks or form fields are missing
- Page content, text and internal links carry across. The bookmark outline and form values live at document level rather than in the pages, and may not survive. Check the result if your document depends on them.
